The 29 year old has become an Anfield target due to the inability of summer signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert to deliver the goods in the final third, a situation that has been exacerbated by the long term injury issues Daniel Sturridge is currently struggling with.

Liverpool certainly appear to be struggling without top-scorer Luis Suarez, sold to Barcelona over the summer, and Rodgers may see versatile Argentine Lavezzi as a good option to consider, though an offer of £30m for the PSG man does seem a fairly offer to be making in the January transfer window.

PSG signed Lavezzi from Napoli in July 2012 and he has had an up and down time of it in the French capital and has started just two of his side’s ten Ligue 1 fixtures this season.

Lavezzi can either player out wide or in a central striking role and it’s this adaptability that could well be motivating Liverpool’s interest in acquiring the forward to help with their push for continued success after last term’s impressive second place Premier League finish.
