Liverpool striker Fabio Borini has been angered by Brendan Rodgers…

Liverpool are having their fair share of issues with Italian strikers so far this season. Among all of the problems surrounding the attitude and form of Mario Balotelli, the steady decline of Fabio Borini has gone virtually unnoticed.

Reports in Gazzetta dello Sport, sourced here by the Daily Star, claim that the player is furious and feels marginalised at the Premier League club, largely because he refused to agree to move to Sunderland during the summer.

Borini had genuinely wanted to give it a crack at Anfield this season, but despite Brendan Rodgers making the player his first signing for Liverpool, at a cost of around £11m, it looks like he’s given up hope on him.

The 23-year-old striker hasn’t been on the pitch for Liverpool for over a month, and has made just three appearances so far this season, two of those from the bench. Despite an injury to Daniel Sturridge, and Balotelli’s struggles, Borini isn’t getting a look in.

Some have suggested that  Borini – who did not even made the bench for the games with Real Madrid and Hull City – was suffering with injury or fitness issues. But Borini has responded by telling the Italian publication: “Injury, out of shape? No, I’m fine.”

The source claims that Rodgers was another reason Borini wanted to stay at Liverpool, but go on to say the relationship between the two men has now broken down so much they’re hardly speaking to each other. Inter Milan, Sampdoria and Fiorentina are all possible January options for the player, who is now happy to leave.
