The 26 year old has started just one La Liga fixture for the Bernabeu side but has still racked up three goals and is clearly a player Carlo Ancelotti values as a back-up for first choice central striking option Karim Benzema.

The Spanish giants have an option to sign Hernandez and are now looking to negotiate a fee for the Mexican international, who is seemingly not a part of Louis van Gaal’s first team plans.

Man United are said to want £17m for Chicharito though Real Madrid are ready to offer £12m, so given the two valuations are not miles apart one assumes a deal could well be agreed.

Real Madrid are also keen on acquiring £25m rated keeper David de Gea and no doubt see the 23 year old custodian as a long term replacement for Iker Casillas.

De Gea has been in fine form of late, ousting Casillas as Vicente del Bosque’s number one national team starter, and the chance to return to his hometown could perhaps tempt the former Atletico Madrid man.
