The 19 year-old playmaker has been in wonderful form for Heerenveen in the Eredivisie this season, having fully broken into the first team, with his displays catching the eyes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool as well as van Gaal, who will have been well aware of Sinkgraven from his time in the Dutch national set up.

Van Gaal has reportedly now instructed his scouting team to compile more detailed reports on Sinkgraven ahead of a potential January move so that he can steal a march on his rivals and secure a deal for the talented youngster before other clubs are able to move ahead in the chase.

Any deal for the player is likely to see him remain on loan at Heerenveen, a club with a reputation for developing young talent, until the end of next season, but it is imperative that United tie up a deal for Sinkgraven as soon as possible as interest in him continues to rise.
