The 39-year old currently plays in the Indian Super League for Delhi Dynamos. He scored 27 goals in 91 appearances for the Italian national team and is the joint fourth highest scorer for the Azzurri. He says his countryman needs to get his head right before he is able to show his true form for the Merseyside club.

Speaking to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, del Piero said, “You need to send a signal to the outside that you are really involved. It’s important, as it shows you are playing with heart and giving your all, trying to do the right thing.

“You have to put yourself up for the challenge every single day. Face every training session as if it were a final.”

Balotelli has scored only one goal in ten appearances for the Reds, and was dropped from the most recent Italy squad. His manager Brendan Rodgers recently said that he may end up not being good enough for the club. The 24-year-old will be hoping that he can pick up his form in their next league game against Newcastle.
