Netting against Chelsea led to booking for Dutch striker.

Louis van Gaal may well have been pleased that his side rescued a last gasp point from their encounter with Chelsea but the Man United boss was less than impressed with Robin van Persie’s goal celebration, branding his striker’s actions as ‘stupid’ according to the Daily Mirror.

After netting in the 93rd minute perhaps understandably the 31 year old forward ripped his shirt off and flung it into the air, resulting in the expected yellow card, which didn’t please van Gaal who stated;

“He did a stupid reaction after the goal.

“You can be excited, but you don’t have to pull your shirt off, because then you have a yellow card. It’s not so smart.”

An automatic booking for removing your shirt is perhaps one ruling that most fans would like to see abolished and one can well see why Van Persie would feel compelled to celebrate in this fashion after such a dramatic strike.
