QPR beat dreadful Aston Villa 2-0 on a comfortable evening at Loftus Road.

Queens Park Rangers have moved above fellow newly promoted strugglers Burnley at the foot of the Premier League table this evening, with two strikes from Charlie Austin proving to be enough for Harry Redknapp’s side to see of the challenge of an insipid Aston Villa outfit at Loftus Road.

Villa have now lost five games in a row without conceding a goal, the first time that has happened in the Premier League era, and Paul Lambert and his side looked despondent at the final whistle as they continued tumbling back towards the relegation zone.

Rob Green returned to the QPR line up in place of Alex McCarthy, but there was once again no place for Rio Ferdinand, with Steve Caulker partnering Richard Dunne at the heart of defence, whilst Christian Benteke started up front for Villa.

From the outset, QPR were the better team and looked to impose themselves on the game, deservedly taking the lead when Bobby Zamora, who troubled the Villa defence with his strength all evening, nodded the ball into the path of Charlie Austin who slammed a fine half volley past Brad Guzan.

Whilst Benteke caused some problems with his aerial prowess and Gabriel Agbonlahor once or twice showed his electric pace, none of Villa’s front three was able to make any kind of impact in the game, with their best chance to equalise coming through Irish defender Ciaran Clarke up from the back for a set piece.

In the second half the visitors played slightly better but never quite looked like scoring, before QPR sealed the game with Austin again finding the net, guiding the ball into the net at the near post to seal a fantastic evening for his side.
