Brendan Rodgers is apparently ‘in the clear’ to sign the 25 year old German international are he turned down his side’s latest contract offer, this coming after months of talks with the Westfalenstadion attacker.

Reus is now seemingly certain to leave and Liverpool have been linked with a £32m bid for his services, with the former Borussia Monchengladbach man demanding a contract worth £180k a week.

Borussia Dortmund’s chances of keeping hold of Reus will not be helped by their shocking start to the Bundesliga season, with Jurgen Klopp’s side sitting in 15th spot in the table having lost an incredible six games from their first nine fixtures.

Having seen Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli struggle for form, neither player as yet having netted a Premier League goal, Rodgers may well feel he is in desperate need for a further attacking option even if Reus isn’t strictly a striker signing it may be a role the Liverpool boss feels he can fill.

Reus is certainly an able finisher, 45 goals in 96 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, this after racking up 21 goals in his final season at Monchengladach.
