The Italian international has already been linked with an exit from Anfield despite only completing a £16m move to the club from AC Milan this summer, following a highly disappointing run of form at the start of this season.

The 24-year-old nas scored only twice in all competitions, and is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League, earning criticism from some fans for a perceived lack of effort on the pitch.

Balotelli is no stranger to controversy, with a number of disciplinary incidents marring his career so far, and it has been suggested that he may be set for a quick return to Serie A when the transfer window re-opens, with Liverpool keen to be rid of his troublesome presence at the club.

However, Napoli may face a fight to sign him, despite Bigon admitting that the Reds frontman is ‘a great player’, as he feels Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will keep faith with him for the time being.

He said: “Balotelli has been rumoured to be going to Spain, England and Italy but I don’t think it is a possibility.

“The only truth is that Balotelli is a great player, who was bought by Liverpool and they believe in him. I wish him the best in his English adventure.”
