Emirates Stadium side look at Sami Khedira alternative.
Arsenal are keen on bringing in Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi on an initial loan deal in January ahead of a possible permanent deal in the summer according to the Metro.
The 24 year old was brought in by the Spanish giants from Real Sociedad back in July 2013, the £25m being the most the Bernabeu side had paid for a Spanish player, however the tough tackler has struggled to retain a foothold in Carlo Ancelotti’s first team set-up and may be considering his future.
Illarramendi has started just one of Real Madrid’s nine La Liga fixtures his term and a move to Arsenal may interest the Spanish international.
Arsene Wenger was seemingly keen on Sami Khedira but has switched his attention to Illarramendi, who is also said to be a target for AC Milan and Liverpool.
