With less than a minute on the clock the 21-year-old was forced off with injury; seemingly aggravating a problem he first sustained back in September with the national team.

The club’s general manager Horst Heldt was not positive about the injury, believing that the youngster will be out at least until the start of 2015.

“He was again injured and it looks like a serious muscle injury. I do not expect Julian to play any more in this first half of the season,” Heldt was quoted bu Goal.

Draxler has been heavily linked with a January switch to the Premier League, with both the Gunners and United thought to be the frontrunners for his signature. This blow is likely to put paid to any chance of a transfer any time soon however.

Arsene Wenger has been a long term admirer of the young German, with the Frenchman claiming he eventually sees Draxler converting into an out and out striker.
