They had to wait until well into the second half before Alexis Sanchez gave the Gunners the lead, but Calum Chambers grabbed a second soon after to put things beyond the Clarets and the Chilean rounded things off late on.

Here’s how the home side rated.

1. Wojciech Szczesny – 6

Barely tested by a weak opposition and would be glad of more clean-sheets like this.

21. Calum Chambers – 8

Got forward brilliantly and put a great cross in for Sanchez’s opener before netting his first goal for the club himself.

4. Per Mertesacker – 5

Looked shaky once more against a pacey attack spearheaded by Danny Ings and against a better side the German would have been punished.

18. Nacho Monreal – 6

A more mobile presence than Mertesacker and had little trouble tracking Ings and Marvin Sordell.

3. Kieran Gibbs – 6

With nothing really to worry about in defence the left-back was given free reign to push forward and looked dangerous from the flank.
