Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United given boost in chase for ‘the next Rio Ferdinand’ after it was revealed that the West Ham youngster has failed to agree terms with current club West Ham.

15-year-old Reece Oxford has turned down a professional contract with Sam Allardyce’s side and could therefore be on the move soon, with a number of top clubs keeping an eye on him, according to the Daily Star.

Despite his tender years Oxford is already a regular for the West Ham Under-21s, and even captained England’s Under-17s over the summer.

He is obviously one for the future rather than a player who could have an impact right now, but that hasn’t deterred the likes of Arsenal from trying to secure his signature.

Arsene Wenger signed Ben Sheaf from the club’s youth academy this summer, and is now looking to bring Oxford with him to the Emirates.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan is not happy with the bigger clubs regularly poaching the best young talent from the lesser clubs, and said, “It almost makes you give up on having an academy if they can come in and nick your best 15-year-old. What’s the point?”
