SPL side hoping to secure deal for John Guidetti.

Celtic are set to make the loan signing of Manchester City striker John Guidetti a permanent one for a fee of £3 million, report the Daily Star, after the Swedish Under 21 international enjoyed a flying start to life in the Scottish Premier League.

Guidetti’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, but Celtic chiefs and manager Ronny Deila have been so impressed by the former Feyenoord and Hull City loanee that they are willing to agree a deal ahead of time – something that City would also be willing to do for around £3m.

Rated as a potential star of the future before joining City, Guidetti’s time in Manchester has been characterised by a serious of injuries that have curtailed his progress, but a couple of injury free months at Celtic Park have shown what Guidetti is capable of achieving given a significant run in the team.

It has been a big day for Deila’s side, with the draw for the Scottish League Cup semi-final pitting them against arch rivals Rangers for the first time since the blue half of Glasgow went into administration and were relegated to the fourth tier of Scottish football as a result in what is sure to be a feisty affair.
