The 34 year old Anfield contract expires in the summer and former Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry, now a board member at American side New York Cosmos, may be readying a move for the midfielder.

Raul has already signed up to the New York Cosmos as their ‘designated’ player, who are not part of the MLS, though this may not prevent the side from offering Gerrard a lucrative deal.

Gerrard is into his 17th season in the Liverpool first team set-up and though he hasn’t been at his best this term he had one of his most consistent campaigns in 2013/14.

The mercurial midfielder finished the last campaign as the Premier League’s leading assist maker and also bagged 13 goals and still has a lot to offer and boss Brendan Rodgers will no doubt insist Liverpool offer their skipper a new deal.
