Yaya Toure Penalty Man Utd: (Video) Surely Manchester City’s Yaya Toure should have had a penalty for this against Manchester United?

The England international was sent off for his second bookable offence just before half time, sliding in recklessly on James Milner despite having been booked for obstructing Joe Hart shortly before that.

Ten-man United struggled for the remainder of the game against City; who eventually won 1-0 thanks to Sergio Aguero’s 63rd-minute goal.

Van Gaal claimed his defender was stupid for making the second challenge, and should have known better than to make that kind of tackle having already been booked.

“In a derby you have to be careful – the second yellow card is a stupid yellow card,” van Gaal said.

“The sending off is not one of those things. As a player you have to control your aggression.

“I didn’t see the first yellow but with the second, you know you already have a yellow, so have to handle it differently. I said that to the players.”

United are already struggling at the back, with injuries to Jonny Evans, Phil Jones, and now Marcos Rojo leaving them very short defensively.

Not only has Chris Smalling cost his team the match, but he has caused further problems for the manager ahead of the side’s next game.
