The Stuttgart centre-back apparently already has a deal in place to play in the Premier League though this source doesn’t name the team concerned but points out that West Ham, Newcastle United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United are all keen on the 21 year old.

Seemingly a move to German giants Bayern Munich is not on the cards.

“At this moment, Antonio’s mind is made up and he wants to move to England, and that could be as early as January,” a source close to the player confirmed.

“He knows the clubs that want him and he knows he has a number of options, but at this moment it remains to be seen whether Stuttgart would entertain him leaving before next summer.”

His side’s poor start to the current campaign will only hasten a likely departure and in the past Rudiger has stated his love for the Gunners.

“I have always dreamed of the Premier League,” he told Bild.

“I have been following Arsenal since the days of Henry and Bergkamp. I watch videos of Arsenal all the time on YouTube and I often wear the current Alexis Sanchez shirt.

“My heart beats for Arsenal.”

Wenger could well do with another central defensive option, not just as a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen following his move to Barcelona, but also with a view to perhaps finding a long term successor to Per Mertesacker, the World Cup winner being well below his best this season.
