Tweeting from his official Twitter account, French football insider Matt Spiro claimed this morning that the former Newcastle United playmaker is ‘likely’ to seek a return to the Premier League this January, despite only moving from England to France less than a year ago.

Having established himself as one of the best midfield players in the Premier League during his time at St James’ Park, Cabaye earned himself a big move to PSG in last year’s winter transfer window, though he has struggled to gain regular first-team football in Laurent Blanc’s squad.

The French international was part of PSG’s Ligue 1 title-winning side last term, but is still unhappy with his role in the team and his desire to leave could put Arsenal and other top clubs on alert in the coming months.

Liverpool have also been mentioned as interested in Cabaye’s services, and there’s no doubt his quality could improve a number of English teams, with Arsenal also linked with several other similar-style players in recent times.
