The duo are both out of contract next summer and given their side’s horrific run of form it seems entirely likely that neither will consider signing new deals any time soon.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are all said to be keen on 24 year old midfielder Delph, who started the season with a bang and earned an England call-up as a result, and January offers may be forthcoming.

29 year old centre-back Vlaar played a prominent role in the Dutch national team set-up at the 2014 World Cup and as such may feel he is worthy of a move to a side at the right end of the Premier League.

Paul Lambert’s side had looked set to bring an end to a miserable run of form on Sunday afternoon but Aston Villa saw a 1-0 lead over Tottenham swiftly turn into a 2-1 reverse, the club’s sixth defeat on the spin.
