Mauricio Pochettino could well do with an effective goal-scorer leading his attack with the likes of Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor struggling for Premier League goals and 31 year old Dutchman Huntelaar may be a cost-effective solution to the White Hart Lane side’s woes.

The former AC Milan and Real Madrid man has found his feet in Germany after short spells at the two European giants but is now into the final year of his current Schalke deal and as such may be considering a fresh challenge.

Tottenham youngster Harry Kane certainly has the potential to be a big success but Pochettino would be wise to bring in a proven goal-scorer in January to help his side’s push for a coveted top four finish.

Huntelaar was given just a season at the Bernabeu and then the San Siro to prove himself and arguably wasn’t given the chance to impress. Since moving to Schalke the old fashioned centre-forward has bagged an impressive 98 goals in 150 appearances.
