Emirates Stadium side enter race for Allianz Arena star.
Arsenal are preparing to join a host of clubs pursuing Bayern Munich attacker Xherdan Shaqiri according to the Daily Mirror.
Liverpool and Tottenham are known to court the 23 year old and a lack of regular first team action could lead to the Swiss international leaving the Allianz Arena.
The Swiss international impressed at the 2014 World Cup finals, blasting a hat-trick against Honduras, and had been linked with a move to Anfield over the summer, and Pep Guardiola’s insistence on only using the former FC Basel man in a limited role will not sit well with the wide-man.
Shaqiri has started just three of Bayern Munich’s ten Bundesliga fixtures this season and Guardiola may well be open to a player sale.
Given fitness concerns over Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski’s up and down form there is perhaps scope for a fresh wide-attacking acquisition and Shaqiri certainly has a great deal of potential.
The former FC Basel man was considered one of the hottest prospects in European football prior to his move to Bavaria. Indeed his move to Bayern Munich has arguably blighted his career progression.
