Aston Villa Boss Paul Lambert Has Two Games to Save His Job

Struggling Villans will wield axe if dismal run continues.

Aston Villa could sack under-fire manager Paul Lambert if their run of six straight defeats continues into their next two fixture as the support from chairman Randy Lerner looks set to crack, according to the Daily Express.

Villa are currently enduring their worst run for nearly half-a-century and they will struggle to end the slump in their next two games against the Premier League’s in-form teams.

The pressure on the manager will likely break should the club fail to pick up anything at high flyers West Ham on Saturday, or the equally impressive Southampton after the international break.

Lerner has not flinched in his support of Lambert through two seasons of relegation battles and the view of the boardroom is that he will back him again.

Following the club’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool earlier in the season, Lerner looked to stabilise the club by offering the manager a new four-year deal, but that is now looking slightly short sighted as Villa have struggled to score, let alone win.
