The 34 year old has certainly played a less prominent role under boss Luis Enrique and may feel that a move to Japan is a fresh challenge worth considering.
Xavi has started just four of Barcelona’s 10 La Liga fixtures this season and this source believes a move away from the Nou Camp at the end of the current campaign is likely.
FC Tokyo are set to offer Xavi a lucrative contract worth £5.5m a year.
Xavi is into his 17th season in the Barcelona first team set-up and has racked up 731 appearances for the Catalan club.
