This source believes Jose Mourinho has beaten Arsenal and Liverpool to the signing of the 18 year old midfielder, who has been dubbed the ‘New Eden Hazard, with Bakkali’s Philipstadion contract expiring at the end of the season.

The adaptable attacker, who can play in a central attacking midfield role or as an out and out winger, is keen to move to west London where he will of course unite with Belgian national team colleagues Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.

Chelsea will look to complete a deal in January and would then loan back Bakkali to PSV for the remainder of the current campaign.

Despite his tender years Bakkali made 22 appearances in all competitions last term and became the youngster ever player to complete an Eredivisie hat-trick and made his national team debut at the age of 17.
