The outstanding Ligue 1 defender is keen to make the move across The Channel soon…

Lille defender Simon Kjaer has annouced his interest in moving to the Premier League, once he comes to the end of his time in France.

The centre-back has been exceptional at clubs around Europe, including Palermo and Wolfsburg and has been linked to a variety of Premier League clubs in the past.

Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur were linked previously, but it seems as though Arsenal and Liverpool will now be favourites, given their respective defensive crises.

“At 25 [years old], I have to plan for the best years of my career and England could very well be my next destination,” Kjaer told Goal.

He also hinted at why the Reds could have the edge when it came to acquiring his signature.

“It’s not a secret that my family are Liverpool fans, and a move to Liverpool would make my family happy.”

The Gunners have been playing Nacho Monreal at centre-back of late and are clearly desperately in need of January reinforcements are the back.

Brendan Rodgers’ big defensive summer signing Dejan Lovren has proved to be a disaster thus far, and the Merseyside club will be keen to bring in some competition for the Croat at the back.

Fans of teams who may be interested in the Danish international will be able to see him in action when Lille come to Goodison Park for their Europa League tie against Everton.

Kjaer will hope to impress English sides with his performance and might well have a look round some houses while he’s in Liverpool.
