The Costa Rica starlet, who shone for his national side at this summer’s World Cup, has only made one start for Arsenal this season, which came against Southampton in a 2-1 defeat in the Capital One Cup.

Campbell has previously spent three spells out on loan from the Emirates Stadium, but looked set to make an impression on the first-team this term after some impressive displays in pre-season.

Still, with plenty of competition for places in this Arsenal side, the 22-year-old may now need to look elsewhere for the regular playing time he craves, and it is thought that he is keen to leave the club this winter, even if only on another loan move.

Campbell came close to signing for Portuguese side Benfica on deadline day, but a move was blocked, which has supposedly angered the player as he has continued to be left out of Arsene Wenger’s starting lineup.

With the likes of Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud returning from injury in the coming weeks, Campbell may find opportunities even harder to come by, and an exit seems increasingly likely.
