Fiorentina Line Up Shock January Bid For Arsenal Winger Theo Walcott

Could Walcott be departing after only just returning from injury?

Having signed right back Micah Richards from Manchester City this summer, Serie A outfit Fiorentina have clearly got the taste for signing English talent, with the Express reporting that La Viola are now lining up an audacious bid to sign Arsenal and England winger Theo Walcott.

Walcott only returned from a long-term injury in the recent Premier League win over Burnley and plenty of the discussion during that time has centred around the importance of Walcott’s pace to Arsenal’s system, meaning that the Gunners are unlikely to want to allow Walcott to leave the club unless they are paid an exorbitant fee for his services.

Despite his popularity with the Arsenal support, however, the Gunners are well stocked in wide areas and Walcott is not guaranteed a place in Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up on a weekly basis, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla competing for a place in the team, something that Fiorentina are said to be hoping to use as leverage in persuading him to move to Serie A.

It was confirmed in recent days, however, that Arsenal have opened talks with the former Southampton man over a new contract at the Emirates Stadium, so Fiorentina will have to move quickly if they want to get their man.
