The Spain international has been frozen out of the first-team at the Nou Camp by Luis Enrique, and is looking to establish himself at a new club in the upcoming transfer window.

United boss Louis Van Gaal is looking to strengthen his back line in the new year after suffering a number of debilitating injuries to his squad and is hoping to temp the World Cup winner back to the club with a £20m move.

However, Chelsea are believed to be preparing their own £24m offer and reports in Spain are suggesting that both he and the club are only interesting in speaking to Jose Mourinho.

The Blues already signed the likes of Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Cesc Fabregas from La Liga sides this summer and Pique is said to be interested in a reunion with his former Barca colleague.
