Jose Mourinho Reveals Cesc Fabregas Is Carrying Hamstring Injury And Will Miss Spain National Team Fixtures

Jose Mourinho revealed the midfielder’s issue in the post-game press conference.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that midfielder Cesc Fabregas picked up a hamstring injury in the buildup to today’s win over Liverpool.

Mourino has indicated that Fabregas is a doubt for Chelsea’s next game against West Brom on the 22nd, which means that he will also be unlikely to feature in either of Spain’s upcoming games.

Fabregas had a quiet game against Liverpool, and this injury would go some way to explaining that. Jordan Henderson man-marked the Chelsea midfielder, and limited his effectiveness. That wasn’t enough to contain Chelsea however, as the Blues struck back after Emre Can’s deflected opener. Gary Cahill squeezed in a shot, and Diego Costa completed the comeback in the second half, blasting home from inside the box after great work from Cesar Azpilicueta down the left.

Liverpool should have had a late penalty however, when Steven Gerrard’s shot hit Gary Cahill’s arm in the box. The Kop went crazy, but the referee didn’t spot it, and Mourinho’s men got away with the offence.
