Current PSG boss Laurent Blanc has not proven to be as big a success as hoped at the Parc des Princes, despite delivering the Ligue 1 title as expected last season, and it could be that his position comes under increased scrutiny in the next few months if the team does not progress as desired, particularly in the Champions League.

Simeone, meanwhile, has shown himself to be one of the most exciting managers in the world at the moment, leading Atletico to an incredible La Liga title win last season, as well as reaching the Champions League final on a shoe-string budget against some big-name competition.

The Argentine tactician has also been linked with other top jobs in recent months, with Premier League giants Manchester City known to be tracking him as they consider the future of their own manager Manuel Pellegrini, whose position at the Etihad Stadium looks uncertain after a poor start to the season.

The Chilean may be replaced in the summer if City cannot claim any silverware, but the club could face missing out on Simeone if PSG come calling.
