The experienced Parkhead skipper is out of contract next summer and though Celtic would be loathed to sell the player they may deem the chance to cash-in on the former Hibernian man as preferable to losing the player on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Brown is into his eighth season at Celtic and may be open to a fresh move and the chance to forge a Premier League career could well tempt the 29 year old.

Warnock’s reign as Eagles boss started brightly with his south London side going unbeaten for his first four Premier League games in charge of the club. However a subsequent run of four defeats in five fixtures has seen Crystal Palace sink to just above the relegation zone.

Brown has made almost 300 appearances for Celtic helping the Scottish giants to four domestic titles.
