The trio of Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert, and Fabio Borini have managed a combined 998 minutes without scoring this season; a fact that goes a long way to explaining why the Merseyside club are currently sat 11th in the league.

Borini and Lambert’s stats can be somewhat excused, with the pair playing just 175 and 138 minutes respectively. Mario Balotelli however, has played a whopping 685 minutes of Premier League football this season without finding the back of the net.

Liverpool desperately needed to replace the goals lost when Luis Suarez made the switch to Barcelona this summer, something which they have evidently failed to do.

Daniel Sturridge was their second highest goalscorer last season, but the Englishman has been injured for large parts of the 2014/15 campaign.

Mario Balotelli was thought to be something of a bargain when he joined in the summer from AC Milan for £16m, but it’s starting to look like money wasted as the controversial forward continues to misfire.
