Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United are all interested in the 22 year old and now Brendan Rodgers has taken an interest in the Portuguese international with Liverpool apparently unsure of Steven Gerrard’s future at the club.

Carvalho could offer Liverpool some much needed steel in the centre of the park, an area Rodgers could do with improving, with Lucas struggling with form and fitness.

The Primeira Liga starlet has a whopping £37m release clause though perhaps Sporting Lisbon will accept a lesser fee if they feel the need to cash-in on their prized asset.

Carvalho has recently talked up the possibility of a move to the Premier League, stating;

“We all have ambitions and I hope one day to play in the best leagues in the world, the English or Spanish,” he told the Portuguese Association’s magazine.

“It was not this year, but if I continue to do my job as I have done so, it will certainly come sooner or later.”
