The 26-year-old, a £20m signing from Porto all the way back in 2007, has suffered a major dip in form in recent times despite initially being a key player for United in the early part of his career with the club.

Still, Anderson no longer seems to be an important part of the first-team squad in Manchester, with Louis van Gaal ready to pay out the remainder of the player’s contract in order to axe him from his squad.

Anderson spent time on loan in Serie A with Fiorentina last season, but now looks set to leave Europe for a return to his native Brazil with his old club Gremio, whom he played for before moving to Porto in 2006.

With over 180 appearanced for United to his name, plus a whole host of major trophies won with the club under Sir Alex Ferguson, Anderson will certainly have enjoyed his time in the Premier League, even if he hasn’t quite managed to fulfill that early potential seen in him as a youngster.
