The 24-year-old Polish international has impressed greatly in La Liga this season, having proven a successful summer signing from Ligue 1 side Reims this term.

Arsenal are badly in need of improvements in the defensive midfield department at the moment, with the likes of Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini looking horribly off-form as the Gunners get off to an inconsistent start to the season.

Krychowiak has a buy-out clause at the La Liga club believed to be around £24m, which Arsenal are supposedly ready to meet, while Borussia Dortmund are unwilling to pay more than £18m for his signature.

Arsenal spent big on the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck during the summer, and look set to do so again here as they look to fill a problem position in their team, with their improved financial power now putting them in a good position to beat Dortmund to this impressive player.

Arsene Wenger had initially been keen to sign Sami Khedira from Real Madrid, but looks set to turn to Krychowiak as an alternative in that position.
