The Netherlands international, speaking whilst on national team duty during a break from Premier League football, admits he is happy to play wherever required by his manager, but feels his skills are best suited to a midfield role.
Blind can also play centre-back and left-back and is known for being a valuable squad member due to his superb versatility, but he would ideally like to get the chance to show what he can offer as a central midfield player.
“I think midfield is a good position for me and it’s also where I can help the team the most,” he said.
“Maybe my qualities are better for that position.
“But, if the trainer needs me for the left full-back position, then I will play there. It is no problem for me.”
United have been short of quality in that part of the pitch for some time, with the Red Devils linked with a number of big names in that position during the summer and even in the build-up to the January transfer window.
Still, they may have a ready-made player in their squad already if Blind can impress in that position, though injuries at Old Trafford this term have meant a number of players have had to move around and fill in at the back.
