The Spanish international has had a superb 2014, making a quick rise to the first-team at the Mestalla and attracting interest from a number of top clubs around Europe.

The 21-year-old has primarily been linked with Arsenal, who are known to be seeking an improvement to their current options upfront after struggling without the injured Olivier Giroud for so much of the season so far.

Arsenal did sign Danny Welbeck from rivals Manchester United on deadline day, but the £16m man has not quite got off to the best start at the Emirates Stadium and may be replaced.

Alcacer could be a great solution to the Gunners’ problems, but Dortmund are also keen to bring in quality attacking players after losing Robert Lewandowski to bitter rivals Bayern Munich in the summer, while there continues to be strong speculation that another key forward Marco Reus could shortly be set to leave the club.

It remains to be seen who will win the race for his signature, but Alcacer looks set to spark more transfer interest in the near future.
