The 19 year old has impressed since breaking into the Magpies first team set-up this term and has been dubbed as the ‘New Raheem Sterling’ and is also attracing the attention of reigning champions Man City.

The teenager netted against Man City in the Capital One Cup in October and grabbed a goal and an assist on his first Premier League start against Crystal Palace.

Aarons may well be pleased with the comparison to Sterling but does appear to be keeping his feet firmly on the ground, stating;

‘Raheem has played really well for the past two or three seasons and I’m nowhere near that level yet,’ he said.

‘He’s played for England at the World Cup and I’ve only managed three or four games for Newcastle.

‘So I don’t think there’s any reason to get carried away.’

Much like Sterling Aarons was born in Kingston Jamaica and was snapped up by Newcastle United in 2012 after he served his apprenticeship at Bristol City.

Rodgers is well known for his willingness to trust to youth and his summer acquisitions of young talents Emre Can, Lazar Markovic and Divock Origi serve to prove the Northern Irishman’s penchant for planning for the long term.
