The German international has struggled for first-team football at the Emirates Stadium this season, making only one start in all competitions and being used sparingly as a substitute by manager Arsene Wenger.

The summer signings of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck have pushed Podolski down the pecking order at Arsenal, and recent reports suggest he is ready to leave the club to ensure he is playing regularly.

Napoli now look ready to rescue the 29-year-old from his difficult situation with the Gunners, with Rafael Benitez on the hunt for new attacking players to add to his squad this winter.

The Italian giants have not reached top form this season as big names such as Gonzalo Higuain and Marek Hamsik struggle to get to the top of their game, and the addition of an experienced and proven attacker such as Podolski could be a useful one for the club as they look to get back into the Serie A title race.

Podolski joined Arsenal from Cologne back in 2012, and helped the club to an FA Cup win last season.
