According to the Daily Express, the Blues are now leading various top clubs in the race to sign Reus, who is sparking plenty of transfer speculation at the moment as he looks increasingly likely to be on the move next summer.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid are also mentioned as suitors for the 25-year-old, while Liverpool will also miss out on him and his German national team mate if this exchange bid is successful.

Chelsea have been strongly linked as admirers of Reus in recent times, with Jose Mourinho seemingly keen to continue strengthening his squad despite already looking like by far the best team in the Premier League this season.

The Portuguese coach has led the London giants to the top of the table with a blistering start, with summer signings Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa shining since making the move to Stamford Bridge.

In a highly exciting deal, Reus could be the next big name on his way to the club.
