Southampton To Demand Two Tottenham Players In Jay Rodriguez Swap Deal

Saints want Andros Townsend and Harry Kane.

If Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is determined to raid his former club Southampton for striker Jay Rodriguez in January it will be more than money that he has to part with, report the Mirror, as the Saints are set to demand both Andros Townsend and Harry Kane as part of any deal that would allow former Burnley striker Rodriguez to move to White Hart Lane.

The move would be a tough one to swallow for Spurs fans, with Kane and Townsend representing two of few players to have made it through the club’s youth system and into the first team reckoning at the club in recent seasons, with Kane’s performances this season, in particular, having brightened the mood at the underachieving North London club.

Rodriguez is still out at injured at St. Mary’s, however, but is expected to return to first team action in the near future – although the form of Graziano Pelle and Shane Long could make it difficult for the England international to force his way back into the fold under new manager Ronald Koeman.

He really caught the eye under Pochettino last season, however, making a potential White Hart Lane reunion look all the more tempting for both parties.
