The Italy international joined the Spanish champions from Torino over the summer in a £13m deal, but is yet to even start a match under head coach Diego Simeone.

Having been a stalwart in Turin this is understandably frustrating for Cerci and with Arsenal and Manchester United both interested the 27-year-old has admitted he could leave the Vicente Calderon Stadium in the New Year.

“We will see what happens in January,” the Italian told Rai Sport.

“It all depends on how much I play at Atletico.

“I don’t like the bench.

“For several years I had a starring role in Turin and I’m not good at sitting on the bench, I lose my patience.”

According to the Daily Express both the Gunners and United are keeping a close eye on developments in the Spanish capital and will offer Cerci an escape route to the Premier League.

Atleti are willing to let the Italian leave for the price they paid for him, which considering how good the forward was in Serie A could be a price worth paying.
