All five players picked up knocks during the international break, with David de Gea and Angel di Maria particularly welcome additions for what could be a tough encounter in North London.
Michael Carrick could also be tasked with a role in central defence as well with Jonny Evans, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo all out, with either Tyler Blackett or Paddy McNair likely to partner him at the back.
Luke Shaw’s absence will be a blow though with alternative left-backs Daley Blind and Rojo also out, meaning Blackett may be asked to fill in as a full-back.
There was some comedy at van Gaal’s press conference however, as the Red Devils’ official Twitter account misinterpreted the Dutchman and reported that Blind would be out for six months with a knee injury.
The 63-year-old actually stated the Netherlands international’s problem isn’t as bad as first thought and he won’t be out for six months.
