The Oakland Raiders will be looking for their first win of the season when the Kansas City Chiefs visit the O.co Coliseum for Thursday Night Football.
In contrast, the Chiefs can secure their sixth consecutive victory as they continue surge through the season and in doing so they would push the Raiders to an 0-11 start and a 17th straight loss.
Kansas City (7-3) has allowed no more than 20 points each time during a five-game winning streak, while they have also now won seven wins in eight contests as they put themselves firmly back in the running for a playoff spot.
The Chiefs moved into a first-place tie with the Denver Broncos last weekend, and they will be determined to make the most of the favourable schedule this week in order to move ahead of their rivals for the time being.
Although their focus will firmly be on the Raiders, there is the tantalising prospect of the Chiefs facing the Broncos at the Arrowhead Stadium on November 30 to look forward to.
Quarterback Alex Smith and running back Jamaal Charles have played significant roles in the winning run, and what makes the Raiders’ task even more difficult is that they will be without cornerbacks TJ Carrie and Carlos Rogers due to ankle and knee injuries respectively.
Although Oakland have been boosted by the steady progress of rookie quarterback Derek Carr, it hasn’t been enough for them to cover up what has been yet another disappointing season and it is unlikely to get much better come Friday morning.
