The Mariners hushed some of their critics with two hard-fought draws in the last week, but there’s no doubt they still have a long way to go to match previous years’ form.
Their 0-0 draw with ACL winners Western Sydney Wanderers was arguably their best performance of the season, but they’ll have to go up a few more levels to get anything out of a clash with the in-form Reds.
Adelaide go into the game off the back of a last-minute 2-1 win over Wellington, and you won’t find too many who would back against them here.
However, the game provides the Mariners a big opportunity to beat a top side and turn its season around.
