The 20-year-old has been in terrific form in the Premier League this season since his move from Dundee United, making the step up to a more competitive league without any trouble.

Robertson is also a regular for the Scottish national team, having caught the eye in the recent friendly against England, when he got on the scoresheet in a 3-1 defeat.

A skillful attack-minded full-back, Robertson is now attracting the interest of bigger clubs, with Arsenal and United supposedly his main suitors as the January transfer window approaches.

Both clubs are in need of strengthening in defence, with United in particular short of options in that part of the pitch, with Ashley Young playing an unfamiliar wing-back role as cover for the injured Luke Shaw in Saturday’s game against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.

Robertson looks like a player who could come in and improve the Red Devils squad, with the player already valued at around £12m despite moving for less than £3m when he joined Steve Bruce’s side in the summer transfer window.
