The Reds stars are apparently fed up with the striker being played every game even though he is performing poorly. They have reportedly sent a senior member of the squad to speak to their Northern Irish boss about the situation.

Balotelli has only scored twice so far this season in 14 appearances and has come in for some stick from fans for his body language while on the pitch. He is yet to net in the Premier League.

There is supposedly a feeling in the dressing room that Rodgers is indulging the Italian too much. They feel that he is playing the 24-year-old come what may until he scores in the league.

Other strikers such as Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini have had little game time while the £16 million summer signing has started 12 games in all competitions already.

The Anfield club have made a poor start to the season, and are currently lying in 11th in the league. They are going to need to improve if they want to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
