Depay caught the eye of many fans at the summer World Cup with his quick and powerful displays for The Netherlands, but they were simply a replication of his form for PSV since breaking into their first team in the Eredivisie and it seems almost certain that he will be moving on to one of the big leagues during the coming months.

With Louis van Gaal knowing the player well from his time in charge of the Oranje national side, United could well have first regusal on Depay if they were willing to meet PSV’s asking price, but both Everton and Newcastle also seem to be set to try and persuade Depay to join them.

Newcastle, in particular, have made a point of snapping up young, continental talents during Alan Pardew’s spell as manager at the club, whilst Everton have also branched out in terms of their transfer policy and scouting since the appointment of Roberto Martinez as manager.
