The Gunners lost the match 2-1 as the Old Trafford club moved back in to the top four. The North London club dominated the game but fell to a counter attacking move finished by Wayne Rooney and a Kieran Gibbs own goal.

The red wine was reportedly thrown while the United bench was celebrating their first goal of the game. The Arsenal hierarchy have promised to take severe action against the supporter if they are found guilty. This would likely include a ban from the ground.

“A male was arrested at the stadium for throwing an object towards the Manchester United bench after the first Manchester United goal,” an Arsenal spokesman said. “There will be full co-operation between Arsenal and the Met Police – we do not tolerate anti-social behaviour. If found guilty, individual will also be banned by the club.”

The North London club helped the police work out who was responsible for the anti-social behaviour through the use of their CCTV system.

Arsene Wenger’s side currently lie in eighth in the Premier League after two losses on the bounce to Swansea City and Manchester United. The are only two points off fourth, but will still be hoping for improvement as they get towards the busy Christmas schedule.
