The St Mary’s side were expected to struggle due to the sales of a number of star performers and the departure of manager Mauricio Pochettino but have begun the season in sensational form and currently sit second in the table.

Koeman will look to tie down England internationals Nathaniel Clyne and Jay Rodriguez to lucrative new contracts and has set his sights on Tottenham pair Harry Kane and Andros Townsend.

One imagines that in form youngster Kane is going nowhere, the English forward being one of Pochettino’s only effective attackers this term having already racked up ten goals in all competitions, though there is a chance that a good offer for winger Townsend could be considered.

The 23 year old was at times superb for club and country last term but was on the whole hugely inconsistent and as such it’s not surprising that he’s been handed just one Premier League start this season.
